After 78,000 votes, 2,000 Bloggers entered and 18 categories I am very happy to announce I have been commended in the PR, Media Marketing and Communications Category at the UK Blog Awards 2016.

Being a blogger and thought leader takes a lot of hard work, and dedication which is the biggest struggle for small businesses, and entrepreneurs who are time short. This hasn’t stopped me from achieve some great milestones in my career this year alone. I really focused on the content I was delivering, and knew how important the UK Blog Awards 2016 would be for me moving forward.

The start of this year has been amazing. My book; Think #Digital First was nominated for Marketing Book of the Year, and I was also named a finalist in two categories at the UK Blog Awards.

Whilst I have been accredited as a top UK business advisor, as well as top UK SME coach, I had yet to be recognised for my content writing; until the UK Blog Awards which took place on the 29th April.

When I entered, I had hoped that my audience would support me (like they always have) and vote for my blog as a finalist. After reaching out to my email marketing database, and my network on social media, I was yet again proved that my audience are extremely influential as without them, I wouldn’t have won the public vote.

The evening itself was great. Held at the beautiful Park Plaza at Westminster bridge, myself and my team attended the event along with 600 other guests. Opening the evening was Kate Russell, last years technology blog winner, presenter and author followed by Gemma Newton; founder of the UK Blog Awards.

The awards ceremony started at 9pm in alphabetical order first dishing out awards to the “individuals” for a specific category, followed by the “company” awards. The likes of Odeon, BMW, Debenhams, Hills Balfour, Bupa, Tibit, Roast, Event Trees and Max Wifi sponsored the event, and categories specific to their industry.

I was named a finalist in two of the eighteen categories; Digital & Technology, and PR, Media, Marketing & Communications. There was 10 finalists in each category (whittled down from 2000 entries based on public votes) with 2 of the 10 being “highly commended” followed by the winner of the category.

I knew it was going to be tough competition, and I was very happy to make the top 10 as this was a huge achievement in itself and it wouldn’t have happened without my audience voting for my blog. If you did vote for me, I would like to say a HUGE thank you as if it wasn’t for your vote, I may have not made it to the last 10. I guarantee that I will continue to deliver great content for you!

I unfortunately lost out in the Digital & Technology category to MarkItWrite who has great content. In the PR, Media, Marketing & Communications category I was over the moon to be recognised and commended for my blog, with Think #Digital First on the big screen at the award ceremony, and a certificate sitting above my desk at home! A huge congratulations to Matthew Barby; Global Head of SEO at HubSpot for winning this category for the second year in a row.
