Every business tool you need for online success.

For the next three weeks, I have decided to share snippets of information about each chapter of my just released book; Think #Digital First.

The first weeks blog was all about the first chapter of Think #Digital First; YOU: There will only ever be one. You have to question yourself, find out what you love, invest in yourself as an entrepreneur and find your own voice.

The second chapter is all about the Framework for Success #TheChoiceIsYours. If you don’t have the framework in place, to allow social media to become a piece to your business puzzle, it won’t make the perfect picture. You can read more on chapter two and the difficult questions you need to ask yourself as a business owner here.

The third chapter was all about Protecting Your Time: Focus on Sales #InsaneInTheMembrane. As a business owner, time management is key because there are many hats that you will need to wear. Your time will need to be split between the sales side of your business, marketing, finances, operations and being the ambassador of your brand.

Last week’s chapter was about Setting Up a Socially-Savvy Business #EverydayPeople. I spoke about Google, how SEO works and social media is just one part of building a business, along with Digital Marketing, Email Marketing, Content Marketing and blogging.

This week is about tools. I have shared over 50 tools that cover every aspect of your business in my book. I won’t share all of them, but here are two very important tools to help your business grow online.

Research and Listening

Feedly: allows you to find online content and keep it in one place. If you have websites you want to save visually in an organised way, this is the tool for you. I use it on a daily basis.

Feedly

Social Mention: for real time searches across all social networks, Social Mention is a great tool to use. Enter in any business or individual name and see how they have been mentioned across various different networks online.

Business

Dropbox: is a cloud storing application that allows you to store files away from your computer. You can create folders and invite those you work with into the folders so they can see and use your files.

Dropbox

Pocket: is another time saving tool which allows you to pocket something for a later date. Also it automatically syncs to your phone, tablet or computer so you can view it at any time, regardless of whether you have an internet connection.

Website Builders

WordPress: in my opinion is one of the best website builders around. There is so much you can do with WordPress and it’s easy to use, with a number of free templates.

Wordpress

BigCommerce: is an eCommerce platform, which I have spent a lot of time working with for clients. It has everything you need to create a fully integrated, professional looking online store.

Design/Visual

Canva: is deemed as good as Photoshop by some of the best designers in the industry. With great features and already existing images to use, you can create a professionally looking image in a matter of seconds.

Canva

Visual.ly: is one of the best tools to use when you want to create an infographic. With existing templates, you just need to do your research and find great information and you can have a great piece of marketing material in less than an hour.

Marketing

Hootsuite: I have been using Hootsuite for many years and cannot recommend it enough. It is one of the best amplification tools out there, allowing you to integrate with your social networks and schedule in advance.

Openr: allows you to connect with your target audience by sharing relevant content. Openr gives you the tools to share unique content through a pop-up window with a message and call-to-action. This is a great way to showcase your latest product/service.

Analytics

When it comes to analytics, I have three great dashboards that you can download from my website. They are:

  • eCommerce: gives you clarity on which items are the best sellers.
  • lead generation: shows you which pages are converting the best for you and where the user is coming from; and
  • social media dashboard: tells you where your traffic is coming from.

To get your copy of these dashboards, purchase my book Think #Digital First.

SEO/Meta Data

Google Adwords Keyword Planner: is one of the best tools coming from Google’s empire. This helps you generate all the keywords you need for your website and your content marketing.

Yoast: is a WordPress plugin that allows you to optimise every web page and blog post on your website. It will rate your SEO on a traffic light system (red, orange and green).

Yoast

Knowing and understanding how to use the right tools to make your business grow is a crucial part to your journey in building a socially-savvy business. There are so many more important tools I talk about in Think #Digital First. Next week I will be writing about Chapter 6: Strategy & Implementation #PushIt.
